Choose Your Yoga

Gayl’s Mission: I love helping people thrive through Yoga and the coaching I give. The methods I use to support your emotional and physical well-being begin with breath, mindfulness, and using Yoga as a way of healing and strengthening the body and mind. No two people are exactly alike. Sometimes we want to move and feel physically strong, and other times we need to slow down and nurture ourselves. You will learn how to recognize what your body needs.

Mindfulness & Self Awareness

Teen Yoga

I have spent many years watching my kids and their friends struggle with the challenges of exam preparation, competition, bullying, and self esteem. I have created mindfulness Yoga programs to help and support our teenagers who are getting ready to go off to college; these programs help them benefit through meditation, breathing and Yoga positions that create mindfulness, self awareness and centeredness. Their bodies are changing faster in many ways than their minds, and the stress to make and keep friends as well as the pressures of excelling in everything can be overwhelming. Yoga helps them bring their minds and bodies together, calmly build stamina, and reduce feelings of being overwhelmed.

Kid’s Yoga

Kids Yoga incorporates special poses that allow kids to be kids. This gives them the opportunity to explore the poses that youth and flexibility allow them to perform.

Restorative Yoga

Restorative Yoga helps rebuild and strengthen muscles for good overall health. People who have suffered from physical injuries can also benefit from Restorative Yoga by strengthening and creating flexibility.

Yin Yoga

When we practice Yin Yoga, it targets the connective tissues of the body which includes the fascia, tendons and ligaments. The focus is on the joints – rather than the muscles. In Yin Yoga, most poses are practiced on the floor, and are meant to be held for several minutes. Yin Yoga is a perfect complement to the Yang (muscular) styles of Yoga.

Yoga for Anxiety + Depression

Yoga is a natural anti-depressant. Depression and anxiety can be greatly reduced through the positive approach to life that Yoga offers. Correct breathing and being in touch with with your body enable you to feel in control and centered.

Yoga Nidra

Often referred to as “yogic sleep,” Yoga Nidra is where you relax consciously, meaning you are able to succumb to a completely restful state, but still maintain full awareness. While you appear to be sleeping during Yoga Nidra, your consciousness is actually functioning at a more heightened level. This deep relaxation can reduce tension, anxiety, and headaches. With the addition of a cushion under the head and a bolster under the knees, the relaxation process can seem effortless. Anybody who is able to lie down on a floor is able to practice Yoga Nidra and experience its healing effects.

Chair Yoga

Chair Yoga is for those with physical limitations, the elderly, and those who do not have the flexibility or physical capacity to perform other forms of Yoga. This type of Yoga affords them the opportunity to enjoy Yoga in a chair where they practice arm and leg movements and breathing exercises, which help generate physical and mental health.

Prenatal Yoga

Prenatal Yoga is a nurturing and soothing form of Yoga which is tailored specifically to the pregnant woman during her various stages of pregnancy. It helps with proper breathing and stretching, which is beneficial to both the mother and baby.

Menopause Yoga

As with any life change, during menopause we experience periods of overwhelm, anxiety, mood swings, and of course, we also experience weight gain and other insecurities. My combination of Yin and Restorative Yoga combined with tools to manage and reduce hot flashes helps women cope better with this transformative change in their lives.

Healing In Motion

Improving Athletic / Sports Performance

Empower. Strengthen. Focus.

Power Yoga

Power Yoga is one of the most advanced forms of Yoga. It requires excellent physical condition, stamina, endurance, and flexibility. One must have full knowledge and understanding of all aspects of Yoga in order to perform at this very high level.

Yoga for Athletes

By embracing Yoga, athletes can improve flexibility, breathing, stamina, and balance, which will improve their performance in their chosen sport. I have worked with many celebrity athletes who use Yoga for mental and physical flexibility.

Yoga for Golfers

Yoga helps the golfer relax and focus by improving breathing, balance, and concentration. This also helps to release the tension in the lower back, neck, shoulders, and hips which in turn helps the golfer create a more fluid motion in their swing and stroke.

Vinyasa Yoga

Vinyasa Yoga is an energetic sequence of postures which, combined with breath and movement, builds strength and flexibility. This type of Yoga makes the student aware of how to link breathing with his or her movement.

Private Yoga Classes

Personalized. Private.

Imagine having your own traveling Yogi right in your own home, away from the distractions of life, who gives you the opportunity to totally immerse yourself in the healing experiences of Yoga. It is always an honor for me to be invited into someone’s home and to support them in their well-being.

Sessions last from 60-90 minutes, and begin with a discussion of what we are working on that day, strengthening old injuries, developing self awareness, and building stamina, flexibility, and calmness. After the session we end with a relaxing meditation or perhaps a Yoga Nidra.

Private yoga sessions can include up to three people and are charged per person, since I am personally coaching you and working with you to center yourself, detach from a cluttered mind, and much more.

Virtual Yoga

Skype. Facetime. International.

Skype and Facetime Yoga

I find this type of session perfect for my clients who are across the country, or for those who cannot make a class because their time is limited or they have an important meeting and just want to connect in order to relax and remain calm before their morning commute.

These type of sessions are ideal for busy moms too. As a mother of four, I know how hectic life can be myself. You now have the opportunity to stay at home and take quick 30 precious minutes for tuning up, feeling good, and getting yourself in a good place so you don’t drain your energy when drama and chaos hits: something that is so crucial for your well-being.

The Skype/Face Time Yoga sessions are also perfect for individuals who are recuperating after surgery and want to gently move, but cannot make it to a class. Additionally, we do Chair Yoga together and a meditation.

International

I work with many clients around the world who are travelling and still want to maintain their weekly/daily Yoga meditation and routine.

    Emotional Benefits

Yoga is the union between the body and mind, the physical and emotional – it is a way of life. When you practice Yoga on a regular basis, you learn to let go of negative thoughts and energy and tap into a more positive attitude within yourself and others. You feel a sense of calmness, relaxation, and harmony with an improved sense of concentration and balance.

In a world where life’s pressures can be so overwhelming, Yoga is a way to learn patience, not only with others but with ourselves. This allows us to become better spouses, parents, athletes, and business professionals. Yoga creates space in our bodies, which allows us to move more freely – when the body feels free, the mind feels free, and everything else falls into place.

Staying Calm in the Middle of Chaos

Yoga teaches individuals how to practice equanimity, which is learning to stay calm in the middle of chaos while still focusing on an ahimsa state of mind. Ahimsa means non-violence or non-harming. Ahimsa Yoga will challenge you, yet at the same time, it will allow you to be sensitive to the way your body feels and how your mind thinks.
